The "Mark of the Web"
Recent updates to Office block VBA macros in files downloaded from the internet. This is a security feature, but annoying for legitimate work.
Method 1: Unblock the File (Easiest)
- Close Excel.
- Right-click the file in File Explorer.
- Select Properties.
- At the bottom of the General tab, check the Unblock box.
- Click Apply.
Method 2: Trusted Locations
Move the file to a folder designated as a "Trusted Location" in Excel's Trust Center settings. Files here bypass security checks.
